The Box Tour Stop!

Hi there, I'm super excited to be participating in The Box Blog Tour because for one it's my first book blog tour and I really enjoyed the book! I want to thank Megan @ Reading Away the Days for hosting this tour and Christina Gaudet for providing me with a copy of her book to read! For my tour stop I'm just going to be doing a review of the book. So here it goes.

Cover rating: 3 stars
Some gifts should be left unopened.
When her gran passes away, the only item left to Lou is a small wooden box. Although it’s not the car that her sister, Cindy, receives, Lou knows it could have been worse. She could have gotten Gran’s collection of toenails. When Lou opens the box and a guy the size of a stick of gum falls out; she changes her mind – the nail clippings would have been better.
Not a day goes by that Lou doesn’t wish she could shove that guy back in the box and pretend she’d never laid eyes on him. Because of him, she discovered Gran was a sorceress and Cindy is a witch and all these years they have been keeping Lou’s magic locked away “for her own safety.” Without the magic she’s vulnerable to whoever, or whatever, is after her. With it, she’s a target for a fate worth than death.

Let me start of by saying I was really iffy about this book at first. I mean a little man in a box? What in the world are you going to do with that? Christina did a great job creating this magical world and I think it would be awesome if I could go visit all of the wizards, griffins, and sorceresses but that's not possible. ):

Lou was a well rounded character, I feel like she played her part very well and I also looked at her as my annoying little sister. She complained about things when she really shouldn't have and could be annoying at times but you love her anyways.  She was so used to being her mom's little angel she thought others would just follow her lead and do as she says but it didn't really work out that way. I think throughout the book she did grow up and mature as a person which is always fun to watch. Aldric, aka the little man or Al, was an awesome character. He's really mysterious and sort of dark and twisted. He's like a 'sweet evil', someone you probably shouldn't like but you can't help but love him. I thought his background story was really bittersweet and showed why he was who he was as a man really well. I also really love how Lou and Al's relationship was. It's as if they were magnets, they can't help being drawn to each other, but because of who and what they are it's simply impossible. My all time favorite character in this book was Cindy or as she likes to be called Sin! I love how she comes off as this person who really doesn't care about what others think or about anything else for that matter but when things start to get really serious she shows us a vulnerable side, even if it's only for a few seconds. I also love how smart mouthed she  is, I found myself laughing at some of the things she said. I love how even though they always didn't get along, in the end when they needed each other to defeat the evil and save each other they all stuck together and were there for each other. The ending of this book really did shock me, I wasn't expecting such a huge tragedy (in my opinion) to happen but I think it added to the story. I definitely recommend you read this book, I really enjoyed it!

Just to do something a little different and fun for the tour I want to talk about why I gave the cover a 3 star rating. I picture Lou so differently!!! I think the model on the cover looks too old but maybe it's just Lou's little sister personality that throws off the younger vibe? I absolutely love how the light on her fingers is included. As a sorceress Lou sees magic as little orbs of light so I thought that was really cool to include. (:
