This quote is from my all time favorite book Impulse. Connor, one of the main characters, is talking about his teacher he had an affair with. I think it just shows how lost people can get when it comes to lust and love. He didn't think it was wrong that he had slept with his teacher several times, he thought he loved her and maybe even did. It's just sad really.
