When Lauren Monroe first laid eyes on Michael Delaney back in high school, she had every reason to stay away from him; within minutes of their first encounter, his volatile actions confirmed his notorious reputation. But Lauren saw something in him that caused her to question his bad-boy persona, and against her better judgment, she took a chance. She had no way of knowing that the unlikely friendship they formed would become so important to her.
Or that it would end so painfully.
Eight years later, when Lauren begins her new job at Learn and Grow Day Care, Michael is the last person she expects to see. Refusing to revisit the hurt and confusion of their past, Lauren vows to keep her distance from him. But staying away from Michael proves to be more difficult than she thought, despite her lingering grief and her instincts for self-preservation.
As Lauren and Michael recall the friendship that changed them forever and the events that tore them apart, will they finally be able to heal? Or will the ghosts of Michael’s past prove to be too much to overcome?

I have so much to say about this book but I don't know exactly where to start. Let me just say I don't think I can explain to you how beautiful this story was to me. I think I loved it so much because I felt like I could relate to a lot of the situations in this book. I could not put it down! The entire story was crafted so well so a huge virtual round of applause from me to you Priscilla!

The story takes place in the present but has flash backs of Michael and Lauren's past together throughout the story. I wouldn't say flash backs annoy me but I feel like to fully enjoy them they have to be done a certain way and with this book I found myself wanting to skip to the flash backs because I wanted to know how they met and why things were the way they were between Michael and Lauren. I also really appreciated how the story was still a really smooth read and easy to follow along because sometimes flash backs make a story confusing. That being said I really liked the plot of this story and think Priscilla did a really good job.

On to the amazing characters that Priscilla shared with us. I'm so in love with Michael and Lauren as individuals and when they're together. Michael has a broken past and suffered all throughout his childhood. To slowly find out what he went through as a young child until he was eighteen was really painful and sad for me. I caught myself wanting to just hug him and let him know that everything would be better one day. To see what a truly amazing man and father he became after such a tragic past was really inspiring to me and made me love him even more. I love how we got to see every side of him throughout the story even though it wasn't written in his point of view, it made me appreciate his character a lot more.

Lauren was such a compelling character and I loved her! She had such a caring personality and huge heart, she reminded me of myself. I find myself always trying to help people who have broken pasts or bad home lives etc and that's exactly how Lauren was with Michael. She just wanted to be there for him and help him in high school but then he broke her heart so it's easy to understand why she was so hesitant in being around him, although not as hesitant as her bestfriend Jenn wants her to be. In the beginning of the story Lauren puts up a wall when Michael first reenters her life but it slowly crumbles. I liked seeing Lauren strong at times an vulnerable at others. It just shows how human she was. Priscilla did a fantastic job showing how Lauren felt about their past and made it feel real.

I can say I truly have come to appreciate novels that can make you feel every emotion possible as you are reading them. It's always fun when you can actually feel like your experiencing whatever is going on. If you're a fan of really great Contemporary Romance novels or a fan of emotion packed stories I highly recommend Back to You!
