<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello my beautiful bloggers, I'm kind of back? So in the time I've been gone I've moved and started back at public school. Due to this I haven't had much time for blogging but as you all know I'm head over heels in love with Jenn Cooksey and her writing. The Grab Your Pole series is probably the most enjoyable YA series I have ever read. I've already read the three that are currently out and patiently (not) waiting for the fourth book so in the mean time I figured I could help you guys get to know one of the characters a little more, our beloved Camie! I hope you all enjoy this top ten post.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Hi there, my name is Camie and I’m one of the main characters in the Grab Your Pole series written by Jenn Cooksey. She and I would like to thank you all for playing along today, and also, I wanted to let you know that I’ve never done anything like this before, so I’m excited but kinda anxious at the same time... You know how it is; putting yourself out there even though you’re petrified that you’ll screw up and people will think you’re an idiot or something.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Anyhow, a while back before the first book in the GYP series was published, Jenn asked me to write a list of my top 10 favorite things about going to school, and I don’t know about most people—you know, because I’m not most people—but the idea of starting school scared the crap out of me. See, I was homeschooled my whole life until my sister, Jillian, and I found out that life and our education as we know it would soon be over because she and I were going into public school—different public schools from each other mind you—and while that’s huge on its own, we had also just moved back to San Diego so we had like NO friends. Anyway, the following is what I came up with!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Ummm.. (That’s me trying to think of just ONE thing I might like about “going” to school...) Yeah, so top 10 favorites is out. But, I was told I have to do a top 10 list, so what I decided to do was give you my top 10 reasons for NOT wanting to go to school. I mean come on, you guys feel me here, right?</b></div>
<!-------><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Camie Ramsey’s top 10 reasons for NOT wanting to go to school (er...public school)</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>1) Not knowing anyone. I mean don’t know a single living soul out of the thousands that go to my new school. And it’s not that I care about being popular or anything, however, I’ve never really had to “make” friends before and I don’t really know how. But, if I don’t make some friends, I think eating lunch alone for the next three years might have long-term effects on my sanity. Plus, I’m afraid people might look at me weird when I start having conversations with myself out loud.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>2) Waking up before God. Enough said.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>3) Not being able to do school in my pajamas. I really don’t think this one needs any explanation either.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>4) Homework. Umm... Forgive me if I’m wrong, but if you “go” to school, shouldn’t the work be done there? I mean I sort of thought that was point.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>5) Standardized tests. Just ugh. I don’t test well to begin with, but in my opinion; giving kids a standardized test that does absolutely nothing to help them learn how to succeed in life is stupid.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>6) Getting lost on campus. You know, I never had a problem finding my way at my old school—‘cause you know, my bedroom wasn’t all that far from the kitchen or the family room—but seriously, you should see the size of the school I’ll be going to. I think it might even cross a time zone or two...</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>7) Being judged. Because you just know if I show up sporting a pair of jeans or something that went out of style last year, someone’s bound to call the fashion police.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>8) Forgetting my locker combination. I can just picture it, you know? I have like 7 minutes to get to and from class and even without getting lost, it’ll probably take me 11 minutes just to get into the metal box imprisoning my history book—like that stuff needs to be locked up tight in the first place. I mean I seriously doubt a stolen biology book would get you much on the black market.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>9) Throwing my back out from lugging this ludicrously heavy backpack around. I mean isn’t that what the stupid lockers are for? You know, putting our books and stuff in them so we don’t have to carry them all the time? I don’t get it...</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>10) Boys. I know, I’m like super excited that there’ll be so many of them around me every day, but that’s kind of the problem too. I um...don’t really have any “experience” with boys, if you get my meaning. And even the thought of gaining some of that kind of wisdom makes me break out in a nervous sweat, which I imagine being all sweaty and sick looking will probably deter any decently cute guy from tutoring me in any way.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>So there you have it, my reasons for not wanting to go to school! Oh and just so you know, those reasons aren’t in any particular order—mainly because I have no idea if I was supposed to put them in order of least to greatest or whatever. Thanks again for stopping by and hanging out with me for a bit today!</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did. Like I said I'm <i>patiently </i>waiting for the next book in the GYP series and I'm so extremely excited to be able to just spend a minute of my time with someone from the GYP gang! It's a perk having Camie visit my blog because I love her so much and I can honestly relate to many of these reasons for not wanting to go from homeschooling to public school because they were all legitimate fears of mine. My review for <a href="http://babblingofabookaholic.blogspot.com/2013/06/shark-bait-and-other-fish-in-sea-grab.html">Shark Bait (GYP #1)</a> and <a href="http://babblingofabookaholic.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-other-fish-in-sea-grab-your-pole-2.html">The Other Fish in the Sea (#2)</a> can be found by clicking the names! Although I haven't written a review for Shark Out of Water I can tell you it made me feel the feels and cry the tears people. This series is a must read no matter your age or book preference, it's that amazing.</div>

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.<br />After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. With pleasure.<br />All Katy can do is survive.<br /> Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?<br />Together, they can face anything.<br /> <br /><br />But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?</blockquote>

So what do you guys think? I can definitely say I was thoroughly shocked when I got to see it in the email. It's so different from the rest of the book covers. On one hand I absolutely love it. I mean come on, seeing Daemon shirtless and sexy is a treat and it's cool how he seems to be coming out of a kick ass battle but at the same time I've always loved how dark, sexy, and mysterious Katy and Daemon looked together on the past covers. So I love it but I'm also a little iffy about the change, not that I like change in general. </div>

Fifty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best.<br />
Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.<br />

Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.<br />

Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.<br />
The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.<br />
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.<br />
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Awhile back I was contacted by two lovely ladies and asked if I wanted to read the first chapter of their new book. I gladly accepted their offer and was immediately sucked into the story, after finishing the chapter they gave me I couldn't wait to read the whole thing. When I received Branded I dove in, excited to see what this book had in store for me. After rereading and loving the first chapter, just as much as I did the first time I read it, I found I was sadly disappointed after that. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have seen so many stellar reviews for this book so I'm not sure if it's just me or what but this just wasn't for me. It starts off with Lexi being captured by guards, branded for her sin (lust), and taken to The Hole which is a sort of prison town where all sinners go. You're pretty much thrown in there and have to fend for yourself. If you're lucky you're given a job, it's rare to find food, and the living is less than okay. I liked Lexi at first, I was intrigued by her. I wanted to know why she was accused of lust and who she was. Finding out more about her throughout the book was fun, her background was interesting but I didn't really connect with her so she was just okay for me in the end. From the beginning Lexi has a body guard to protect her from some unknown danger, this is when we meet Cole. I can't deny that I was excited to have a hot hunk of man to admire throughout this book but yet again I didn't even connect with him nor did I find him all that attractive. He was made out to be hot but I just didn't find him totally swoon worthy. Lexi and Cole's relationship was so underdeveloped for me. I do not like relationships that have that instant love vibe and that's what I got from theirs. Yes, Cole did save Lexi and I can see how that could make you appreciate someone and be thankful but I would have liked to see more than that. I was also disappointed with the fact that I figured almost everything out by myself the last half of the book, I wish the suspension and 'on edge' feeling could have lasted throughout the entire thing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The only reason I gave this book three stars instead of two is because I like the actual idea and world that Abi and Missy tried to create. I think a lot of people are truly judgmental when it comes to the sins of others. The sins Branded focuses on can be really deadly and I know that everyone has different opinions and outlooks on these things. A great deal of those people disagree or look down on certain sins that were made out to be bad in this book and that's<span id="goog_917879288"></span><span id="goog_917879289"></span><a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a> realistic. I also really liked that the book had a lot of action. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Overall Branded was just an okay read for me, like I said a lot of people loved it so don't rule it completely, it could become a favorite for you. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Nora Montgomery left home and heartbreak behind in South Carolina when she moved to New York City after her high school graduation. Now, four years later, she returns home and is forced to confront the past she left behind and the reckless boy who broke her heart. It’s not long before the pieces of her past begin to blur with the present and she realizes that the feelings she had for her first love never really went away. As old dreams resurface and new truths come to light, she begins to question the future she's always planned on. Jake Harris has spent four years regretting the night he let her get away. When she finally reappears in his life, he is determined to win her back and prove how much he’s changed. She might never forgive him for that night, but if he tells her the truth about what really happened it will shatter the world she thought she knew. If he doesn’t, he might not get a second chance. He’s already lost her once and he won’t lose her again. They come from two different worlds that are threatening to tear them apart…can they make it this time around?</blockquote>

Nora hopped into the back and started handing me the heavy boxes so I could bring it </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
all into the house. When it was all unloaded she stood on the tailgate and held out her hand so I </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
could help her to the ground. Instead of grabbing her hand, I wrapped my arms around her thighs </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
to lift her, letting her body slide down mine until her feet touched the ground. I kept my hands on </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
her hips and looked her right in the eye so she would know exactly what was coming.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
“Jake – don’t,” she stammered, but didn’t pull away.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
“I have to,” I told her, as I leaned forward and gently placed my lips on hers. I held them </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
there for just a moment before pulling back to look at her, and my heart felt like it was beating </div>

out of my chest.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
“I – I can’t do this, Jake.”</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
“Then don’t kiss me back.” </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I leaned in to kiss her again and tightened my arms around her. Cautiously I moved my </div>

part for me, I let my tongue find hers and tilted her head as I deepened the kiss. As my lips began </div>

mine. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

The need I felt for her turned me completely inside out. I hadn’t planned on kissing her </div>

today, but when I looked up at her standing on the tailgate, illuminated from the light of the </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
setting sun, I knew I couldn’t wait. I had to know what it was that I was feeling, and if it was </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
something real or if it was just remnants of the past clouding the present. Still, I wasn’t expecting </div>

this. Instead of curbing my appetite for her, it only intensified it. I’d never needed anything as </div>

<br /></div>

much as I needed Nora.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

When I finally pulled away, I brushed my thumb against her cheek and tucked a loose </div>

strand of hair behind her ear. “God, I missed you, Nora.”</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

“This doesn’t change anything,” she said breathlessly, “I still have to go back to New </div>

“We’ll see,” I said simply. </div>

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Joey made her dad a deathbed promise that she would become a doctor, and dedicate herself to fighting the very cancer that took his life. There’s just one problem -three years into her pre-med classes, she's struggling to stay on top of the curve, let alone prove she's dazzling enough to earn a spot in an Ivy League medical school. In a Hail Mary move, she throws a basic Business 101 class into her semester schedule, banking on a perfect score to boost her GPA.<br />
That is, until she’s paired for a final project with Hawk, the bartending, motorbike-riding, gorgeously bedheaded loser who falls asleep in class and communicates in one-word sentences.<br />
Hawk does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, which sets Joey on edge – in every possible way. As they get to know each other, her urge to scream at him is curbed only by her fantasies of tearing his clothes off. Soon those fantasies become reality, and Joey realizes Hawk makes her feel more fully herself than any of the rich boys her mother and sorority sisters approve of.<br />
But the promise to her father hangs over her head, and the harder Joey tries to succeed in her chosen career, the faster everything falls into a hopeless tailspin of bad grades, broken promises and guilt. It doesn't help to have Hawk sitting like a devil on her shoulder, insisting she should be free to live however she wants to live - like he does.<br />
The only thing Joey knows is that her neatly organized life is crushing her - and Hawk's bad attitude might be the only thing that can save her.</blockquote>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Alessandra's debut novel Picture Perfect is by far one of my all time favorite NA romance novels. It was so different and I was invested in that story from the second I picked it up. So you can understand why I'd be dying to get my hands on Subject to Change. StC felt different from PP and I liked that, I feel like Joey's insecurities and problems were on a different side of the scale than Cat's were in PP, just as serious, but different. Joey is trying to become a doctor and she's drowning in her school work, barely getting by. I think Alessandra created a character a lot of girls can relate to, just like she did with her first book. Everyone has the pressures of doing what your family expects of you and the fears of somehow screwing it up and letting them down. From the moment I started reading about Joey I knew that I just really wanted her to be happy and do what she needed, not what was expected of her. How do you change your major though when it's something that your Dad, who has passed away, wanted for you? I can't say I'd have the courage to do that, imagining myself in that position is really depressing and impossible. That's a lot of pressure and guilt. But is Joey really willing to give up her own happiness just to do what she thinks her Dad wanted? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hawk and Joey's relationship was confusing. It was a roller coaster ride. One minute the sexual tension is so high I could literally cut it with a butter knife and then the next minute they aren't interested and Joey's hates him because he's an infuriating dick face. At least an infuriating dick face that was swoon worthy. Joey has always done what's expected of her and played that perfect good girl role while Hawk has tattoos and works in a bar to get himself through college. He's almost always late and appears to not care about his life. Although Joey didn't want to admit it at first she was very judgmental towards Hawk and didn't really agree with all his choices but he was more than what met the eye. He didn't really judge her at first but she assumed from the beginning he was some dead beat guy. This <i>infuriated </i>me. How could she? Honestly. I know it's hard not to judge people sometimes but I always try to remind myself that you don't know what's going on in someone else's life so what right do you have. Thankfully Hawk called her out on this BS and when she finally actually gave him a chance and got to know him, she realized what a great guy he was and that he just had a complicated life. I knew though that the other shoe was going to drop at some point because it always does. The 'shoe' was no surprise to me, only because I over think things and saw what happened coming the instant she tried to fix the situation the first time. She obviously didn't and I was so irritated with her but at the same time I think it was best that they got all of it out on the table and sort of started over. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Overall this book was really enjoyable, it didn't capture me as much as Picture Perfect did, but it captured me either way. I'm looking forward to reading anything that Alessandra writes because she just has a way of capturing your attention and making you stay up until wee hours of the morning finishing a book. </div>

Seventeen-year-old Evan O’Fion has it all: excellent grades, shining extracurriculars, and a loving family that wants nothing but the best for her. The problem is, something is missing. For as long as she can remember, there’s been a hole inside of her that she can’t quite fill, not with drugs, or drinking, or mosh pits. It’s a hole too deep to fix and it’s slowly consuming her.<br />When a terrible tragedy rips away everything she’s known, Evan is sure she’s going to lose it. Then a mysterious package arrives and it changes everything. After a lifetime of feeling powerless, Evan is now the keeper of a power greater than she could have ever imagined and it scares the hell out of her. It also has her questioning everything she thought she knew about her parents and her past. On top of it all she has to face a new town, new home, new school, and a sexy dangerous guy…or two.<br />Dealing has never been her strong suit, but Evan is up for the challenge; especially when her life and her newfound power are on the line. How she’s going to handle it all and come out alive, she has no idea; but she’s stronger than ever and she’s not going down without a fight.</blockquote>

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.<br />
But it isn't the monster Conor's been expecting. He's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming...<br />
This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.<br />
It wants the truth.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've seen A Monster Calls on several blogs that I love, but the one that convinced me to read this book and add it to my TBR was my good friend Rola's blog <a href="http://xoreads.blogspot.com/">XO Reads</a>. When I saw it at the library I snatched it up and couldn't wait to dive in. I was in the mood for horror soon after that and picked up this book hoping it could give me a good scare, it didn't do exactly what I was hoping for but I loved it either way. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A Monster Calls is a tale about a young boy who is in need of saving, from what? Well his own kind of monster really. Every night at 12:07 Conor is visited by a yew tree monster who pushes Conor to his truth, his reality. Conor has worked really hard to ignore it and bury it deep inside but the Monster tells him the only way to be okay is to face it. I was surprised to see this was considered YA because Conor was so young, but I forget that YA is targeted for young teenagers as well not just older ones. I just rarely read books with such young MC's so when I found out how young Conor was I wasn't sure if I could connect with him or if I'd enjoy this book as much but I was mistaken. I think anyone at any age could connect with him and what he goes through in this book. He struggles to come to terms with his reality, hoping he can just ignore it or pretend it isn't there. He struggles with how he feels about what's going on in his life and I think this is just so relatable. At times I feel certain ways about a difficult situation and I sit there and think, that isn't right. But who's to say what is right and wrong? Life is complicated and so are so many situations we as humans are faced with and our reactions can't always be perfect but that isn't to say they aren't okay. The emotions A Monster Calls evoked inside of me were so powerful and real. I loved how the story was told and how the Monster taught Conor lessons by telling different tales from the past.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A Monster Calls was one of the most enjoyable books about coming to terms with your reality and accepting it that I've ever read. Patrick Ness turned this idea into such a beautiful story with extraordinary fast paced writing that will be sure to pull at anyone's heart and make them <i>feel </i>like they're experiencing everything alongside Conor. </div>

<blockquote>
When eighteen-year-old Keiko Yamada’s father dies unexpectedly, he leaves behind a one way ticket to Japan, an unintelligible death poem about powerful Japanese spirits and their gigantic, beast-like Guardians, and the cryptic words: “Go to Japan in my place. Find the Gate. My camera will show you the way.”<br /> <br />Alone and afraid, Keiko travels to Tokyo, determined to fulfill her father’s dying wish. There, beneath glittering neon signs, her father’s death poem comes to life. Ancient spirits spring from the shadows. Chaos envelops the city, and as Keiko flees its burning streets, her guide, the beautiful Yui Akiko, makes a stunning confession--that she, Yui, is one of a handful of spirits left behind to defend the world against the most powerful among them: a once noble spirit now insane. Keiko must decide if she will honor her father’s heritage and take her rightful place among the gods.</blockquote>

Fairytales aren’t real…yeah…that’s exactly what Bianca thought. She was wrong.<br />For generations, the Frost family has run the Museum of Magical and Rare Artifacts, handing down guardianship from mother to daughter, always keeping their secrets to “family only.”<br />Gathered within museum’s walls is a collection dedicated to the Grimm fairy tales and to the rare items the family has acquired: Cinderella’s glass slipper, Snow White’s poisoned apple, the evil queen’s magic mirror, Sleeping Beauty’s enchanted spinning wheel…<br />Seventeen-year-old Bianca Frost wants none of it, dreaming instead of a career in art or photography or…well, anything except working in the family’s museum. <div style="text-align: center;">
That's right people. Today is <b>THE FREAKING DAY</b>, the day of all days! I have been complaining about GIMP on every social media site I'm on and bossing all of my friends around all for <b>THIS DAY. </b>It is officially time to vote for Tristan Daniels, the perfectly flawed hunk of perfection that was created by the fabulous Jenn Cooksey in the Grab Your Pole series! I've bullied friends into buying this book (I promise they'll love it), I've made buttons for this, and I've even created a special collage with the help and pictures from a bunch of different Tristan fans! Tristan Daniels is in the <a href="http://ya-sisterhood.blogspot.com/2013/06/match-16-kaidan1-vs-tristan5.html">2013 YA Crush Tourney</a> and damn if he doesn't win, I am going to try my hardest to make it happen with the help of so many others! First though I want to show all of you the long awaited cover for the last installment in this fabulous fucking series, Shark Out of Water!</div>

My man is on the cover and he is looking phenomenal, I absolutely adore all three covers for these books and love how they tie into each other! Check out the blurb below and some fun information about the wicked mastermind behind this series, none other than Jenn herself!</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div style="text-align: center;">
With the Amazon Bestseller Shark Bait, the first novel in the Grab Your Pole series, debut author Jenn Cooksey delivered a fun, snarky, and realistic beginning to a larger story that has found its way into the hearts of readers everywhere. Thus, many were unprepared for what was coming in the second installment of the GYP series, The Other Fish in the Sea, when Cooksey took us on a runaway roller coaster ride of emotion and solidly landed hit after hit, including a brutal sucker punch that left readers around the globe reeling. In Shark Out of Water, the highly anticipated third installment in this humorous yet honest and real coming of age story, we delve even further into the lives of the GYP gang and many questions are sure to be answered, however, are you really ready for what lies ahead in the continuation of their adventure? Well, grab your pole and let’s find out.</div>

<blockquote>
Jenn Cooksey is a Southern California girl born and bred, however she’s no longer a resident of heaven on earth, but instead she currently resides in the 7th Ring of Hell with her husband, their three daughters, and a goodly number of pets. Aside from her husband, one cat, and three out of five fish, everyone living under the Cooksey’s roof is female. She’s sure her husband will not only be awarded sainthood when he kicks the bucket, but that Jesus will welcome him into heaven with a beer and a congratulatory high-five. Jenn is also of the belief that Bacon should be capitalized and that just being yourself is the best way to go. That is, unless you can be Batman. Always be Batman.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
After reading that if you aren't convinced of how badass and awesome Jenn is, then I guess you're out of luck. I've had the pleasure of meeting her in person (that's right, I am bragging. Sorry, I'm not sorry.) and she is pretty freaking epic. Her obsession with bacon is not fake and she really likes the word fuck. Love her and bow down to her like the rest of us GYP Team members do! It's the right way to go. Now without further ado I would like to show all of you my collage that couldn't have been possible without Jenn's fabulous mind or the help of all of the GYP fans. I can't express how much I appreciate all of you, as does Jenn I'm sure, and how much fun I had doing this!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Is that not fan-fucking-tabulous? Can you tell I'm excited? But honestly, this collage makes me tear up a little bit. The love that comes from all of these beautiful people for Tristan is so well deserved and so incredibly awesome! Those pictures up there are from all around the world. Most are from different states, but we have a few from Canada and one all the way from Afghanistan. I'm sure you can guess which one that is! If you aren't convinced by now you need to vote for Tristan then you can watch <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eD0IDzHjbvs">this video</a> to see why Allura, who I've dubbed my flail twin, thinks you should. She gives you five very true and very fun reasons. ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"To try and sum up in one small quote exactly why I love Tristan Daniels is near impossible. Obviously he's hot, I have a soft spot for boys with dark hair and blue eyes. Can I get a YUM?! I also really love the fact how realistic and imperfect he is. He can be really sweet and loving but he also makes mistakes and that makes it so much easier to relate to him as a person and love him for it. He's sarcastic, hilarious, handsome, and just a fun guy to read about. It was an easy choice to pick my favorite guy for the YA Crush Tourney."</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That was my official quote for why exactly I love Tristan, I think it's obvious Tristan deserves to win this. It's only been three days, and already everything is different.<br />
Paragon is behind her, but somehow Alessa's life may actually have gotten worse. In a wrenching twist of fate, she traded the safety and companionship of her sister for that of her true love, losing a vital partner she'd counted on for the ordeal ahead. Her comfortable university life is but a distant memory, as she faces the prospect of surviving a bleak winter on the meager remains of a ravaged world. And if she'd thought she'd tasted fear upon seeing a ghost, she was wrong; now she's discovering new depths of terror while being hunted by a deadly virus and a terrifying pack of superhuman creatures thirsting for blood.<br />
And then there are the visions.<br />
The memory-altering "stitch" unlocked something in Alessa's mind, and now she can't shake the constant flood of alien feelings ransacking her emotions. Haunting memories of an old flame are driving a deep and painful rift into her once-secure relationship. And a series of staggering revelations about the treacherous Engineers - and the bone-chilling deceit shrouding her world's sorry history - will soon leave Alessa reeling...<br />
The second installment in the electrifying Stitch Trilogy, Shudder follows Samantha Durante's shocking and innovative debut with a heart-pounding, paranormal-dusted dystopian adventure sure to keep the pages turning.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I read Stitch, the first book in this series, back in February I was pleasantly surprised and absolutely <i>loved </i>it. Going so far to call it one of my favorite reads of 2013, which is still true. I was extremely excited to read Shudder, I wasn't completely disappointed but it wasn't all that I wanted it to be. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Shudder starts off almost immediately after Stitch ended, with both Issac and Alessa outside of Paragon searching for a good home base for the rebels that isn't surrounded by the bad guys or actually inside of the bad guys home base. Outside of Paragon there are several dangers Alessa and Issac must face; the possibility of the virus still being out there, the possibility of dying from starvation, and the possibility of getting eaten by some psycho monster things they run into. Yup, that's right. From some unknown place, crazy blood thirsty monsters have appeared and they're hunting Alessa and Issac outside of Paragon. As you can see Alessa and Issac obviously go through a lot on this trying journey to help push the rebel plan forward but it might end up being worth it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Alessa struggles a lot in this book, she starts thinking about Joe again and has to face her feelings about losing him. She has to deal with a new sort of ability she develops, which was a really fun twist to the story, and she has trouble facing the fact that even though she's already been through so much and done so much the fight has just begun. She even goes so far to think she might just run away, you can tell she's really having a rough time. I really liked seeing this vulnerable side of Alessa and getting to know her on a more personal level. I loved seeing her take care of Issac throughout this book too, because that allowed us to watch them grow closer and to also see his vulnerable side. I think we get to really know both of these characters on a personal level because of this, but don't let all of this vulnerability fool you. They're both still badass rebels.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think my favorite moments throughout this book were when Issac and Alessa just got to relax and not worry for awhile. I loved seeing them just love each other and be okay, even if the moment was fleeting. I think it was key for them to survive a lot that they went through or are going to go through. Shudder also gave us a lot of background information on Paragon and The Engineers. We got to learn how exactly it formed and came to be and where the virus came from. At times I felt this book got a little boring in a few parts, but when the action happened it was pretty awesome. It showed us just how awesome and kick ass these characters can be and proved to us just how passionate all of them are about making things right. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The ending to this book just about killed me, I suspected it but I didn't want it to be true so when my fears were confirmed it broke my heart. I am now dying to know what this means and if they can fix it. Overall I really enjoyed Shudder, I'm really excited for the third book to see how exactly this trilogy wraps up.</div>

<blockquote>
You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…<br />Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town…until River West comes along. River rents the guesthouse behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard. Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more? Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery...who makes you want to kiss back. Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.<br />Blending faded decadence and the thrilling dread of gothic horror, April Genevieve Tucholke weaves a dreamy, twisting contemporary romance, as gorgeously told as it is terrifying—a debut to watch.</blockquote>

<b>Why am I anticipating this book? </b>The cover drew me in from the moment I saw it and then I read the blurb and pretty much had a bookgasm. It sounds freaking amazing and I really want to read it with my Bloggy Twin, Jude! Just a side note, I love the names. Violet and River. It's just so different and perfect. *sigh*</div>

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
24-year old Pax Tate is an asshole.<br />
Seriously.<br />
<br />
He’s a tattooed, rock-hard bad-boy with a bad attitude to match.<br />
<br />
But he’s got his reasons.<br />
<br />
His mother died when Pax was seven, leaving a hole in his heart filled with guilt although he doesn’t understand why. What he does know is that he and his dad are left alone and with more issues than they can count.<br />
<br />
As Pax grew up, he tried to be the kid his father always wanted; the perfect golden boy, but it didn’t work. His dad couldn’t overcome his grief long enough to notice and Pax couldn’t keep up the impossible perfect façade.<br />
So he slipped far, far from it.<br />
<br />
Now, he uses drugs and women to cope with the ugliness, the black void that he doesn’t want to deal with. If he pretends that the emptiness isn’t there, then it isn’t, right?<br />
Wrong.<br />
<br />
And it’s never more apparent than when he meets Mila.<br />
Sweet, beautiful Mila Hill is the fresh air to his hardened frown, the beauty to his ugly heart. He doesn’t know how to not hurt her, but he quickly realizes that he’s got to figure it out because he needs her to breathe.<br />
When memories of his mother’s death resurface from where he’s repressed them for so long, Mila is there to catch him when the guilt starts making sense. Mila is the one…the one who can save him from his broken troubled heart; from his issues, from the emptiness.<br />
<br />
But only if he can stop being an asshole long enough to allow it.<br />
<br />
He knows that. And he’s working on it.<br />
<br />
But is that enough to make her stay?</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I read If You Stay about two months ago, maybe a little more, because I saw how much Andrea from The Bookish Babes loved it. This seems to be a reason for me reading books a lot lately. Anyways, I'm not exactly sure why I waited so long to review this book. Obviously procrastination on my part and a hint of stupidity. I really, really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning I could tell Pax was a flat out asshole, but usually behind every asshole there are some serious reasons to cause this kind of behavior. If You Stay takes us on a journey of discovering exactly why Pax Tate has so many damn issues and how he finds a way to get through them and come out stronger in the end. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I really enjoyed the dual point of view, I feel like it definitely was needed when it came to my sympathy towards Pax. Mila was damn near perfect. She was strong and caring but she didn't ever let Pax walk on her. One of the most annoying things is when an author writes a female character that let's some asshole treat her like shit because she feels bad. Just no. Mila had some issues from her past but I definitely think If You Stay was more focused on what Pax was going through and how Mila helped him. If I would have just seen Pax from Mila's point of view I don't think I would have liked him so early on in the story. I think I understood Pax on a better level than I would have if I didn't know half of what I do about drugs and booze and exactly how they can affect a person. I feel like maybe at times Pax was two different people, which is understandable, but also made it hard for me to love him all the time. I felt bad for him but I also wanted to just smack him and force him to go get help. When he finally did get helped I loved how descriptive Courtney was with the scene, I find lately that so many books just skip over these key scenes or don't <i>explain </i>them to us readers and the way Courtney handled this moment really made it impact me emotionally. The tragedy Courtney threw at me was unpredictable and so, so shocking. I was definitely not expecting what I was told and it broke my heart. I didn't know if Pax would make it through, God knows if I would in that situation. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If You Stay was heart breaking, sexy, and definitely enjoyable. It obviously isn't a novel for the light hearted but it did have it's fun moments to lighten it up every now and again. I think this is definitely one for lovers of contemporary romance novels that deal with truly difficult and tragic pasts.</div>

It's been months since the ghost of Anna Korlov opened a door to Hell in her basement and disappeared into it, but ghost-hunter Cas Lowood can't move on.<br />
<br />
His friends remind him that Anna sacrificed herself so that Cas could live—not walk around half dead. He knows they're right, but in Cas's eyes, no living girl he meets can compare to the dead girl he fell in love with.<br />
<br />
Now he's seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he's asleep and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong...these aren't just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.<br />
<br />
Cas doesn't know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn't deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it's time for him to return the favor.</blockquote>

<b>*WARNING* </b><br />
There is no way for me to write this review and not spoil events or give clues to what happened in Anna Dressed in Blood, the first book of this series. So if you haven't read the book or don't like spoilers don't read this review until you've read the first book.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's rare for me to read a 'scary' YA book and actually be scared or even remotely creeped out. When I read Anna Dressed in Blood back in November Kendare Blake managed to use such beautiful descriptive details about Anna and her psycho scary self that I was in fact scared and creeped out. Right after I read ADiB I was dying to get my hands on Girl of Nightmares and for whatever reason I didn't for clearly a long time. So here I am again beating myself in the head for waiting to read book two, just like I did after I read book one. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Girl of Nightmares starts off about six months after ADiB ended, with Anna still stuck in hell and Cas still not dead. At least not physically. Cas is pretty much a walking zombie throughout the first 100 pages or so because he misses Anna and doesn't know how to help her, he just knows he needs to. I liked the build up to the part where shit hits the fan. I didn't realize how much I missed these characters until I was spending time with them again. Cas, Thomas, and Carmel are seriously the best ghostbusting gang ever. I didn't really enjoy seeing Cas feel so awful without Anna but I think it was necessary for him in the end to make the right choices. Even though he was feeling like shit throughout a good portion of this book he was still his witty, smartass, hilarious self and he reminded me why I fell in love with him in the first place. Thomas was his same nerdy little loving self and I enjoyed every single scene he was in, even the heart breaking ones. He never fails to amaze me with his loyalty to Cas and I feel like anyone would be honored to have him as a best friend. Carmel and I's relationship didn't change much from what it was in the first book. Some parts I absolutely freaking loved her and others I was absolutely frustrated with her even if I understood what she was doing and why. I applaud her for trying to help the boys when she could, for being so brave, and for never being afraid to be real and straight up with any other character she came across though. In the end I can say that I love all three of these characters more than I can explain.<br />
<br />
Like I said above, ADiB was scary. Girl of Nightmares was even scarier to me. Any time the characters were forced into a sketchy situation with some whacked out scary ass ghosts I could feel their fear and terror. Kendare's writing had me on the edge of my seat throughout several scenes in GoN. I couldn't put it down, unless I forced myself to sleep, and I was always laying there wondering what was going to happen next. The ending just about killed me. It was so bitter sweet and I can't explain all the feels I have. I'm just in my little world with all of these emotions. Sadness because this series has ended and I'm going to miss my gang, happiness because the ending was so beautiful and perfect. If you haven't started this series for whatever crazy reason I'm now mentally shoving you to read this book, right now. It was absolutely beautiful, heart breaking, and haunting and I will never forget it.<br />

After six years of “angels” coming out of the sky and taking people from her town, 16-year-old Riley Carver has just about had it living with the constant fear. When one decides to terrorize her in her own backyard, it’s the final straw. She takes her mother’s shotgun and shoots the thing. So it’s dead. Or … not? In place of the creature she shot, is a guy. A really hot guy. A really hot alive and breathing guy. Oh, and he’s totally naked.<br />
Not sure what to do, she drags his unconscious body to the tool shed and ties him up. After all, he’s an angel and they have tricks. When he regains consciousness she’s all set to interrogate him about why the angels come to her town, and how to get back her best friend (and almost boyfriend) Chris, who was taken the year before. But it turns out the naked guy in her shed is just as confused about everything as she is.<br />
<br />
He thinks it’s 1956.<br />
Set in the deep south, OUTCAST is a story of love, trust, and coming of age. It’s also a story about the supernatural, a girl with a strange sense of humor who’s got wicked aim, a greaser from the 50’s, and an army of misfits coming together for one purpose: To kick some serious angel ass.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
After seeing a friend of mine on Goodreads add this to her TBR I had to check it out. Right after that I found out that she got it from Netgalley so I immediately requested it and impatiently waited for an email response. Thankfully Diversion Books accepted my request and I downloaded the book right after, diving into this angel story.<br />
<br />
<b><i>"Sixth year, I shot an angel in the face." </i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Riley Carver. The badass angel shooting girl we get to take this awesome adventure with. Now reading the description I had a feeling I'd fall in love with Riley but oh my gosh. Adrienne managed to create this awesome heroine but make her feel so real and human as well. She was strong and kick ass, I mean who shoots an angel in the face, but she could be vulnerable too. I loved seeing her character grow, she made mistakes but when she realized it she would try to fix it. For example, her relationship with Lacy, the snobby cheerleader. We watch Riley go from not liking Lacy at all to becoming best friends. Her growth and maturity throughout this book was amazing and I loved it. Whenever stuff needed to get done for the sake of her safety and the others she would get it done. Chris, Riley's first love and best friend, got taken by an angel and that's what starts this entire thing. Riley misses him and after shooting an angel in the face, why not use him to find Chris? Turns out this angels name is Gabe. At first he comes off as this smart ass guy, who by the way is hilarious. To say Gabe turns out to be swoon worthy is an understatement. I loved him, <i style="font-weight: bold;">so hard. </i>He was sweet and helpful, even though sometimes he acted like a perverted teenage boy, the relationship building between Riley and Gabe was beautiful. I'm Team Gabe all the way.<br />
<br />
An angel book is nothing without action and some unique spin on it. Half the time you pick up an angel book and it can feel like you've read it before because a lot of the time authors fail to make it something new or unique. Adrienne definitely didn't fail on making Outcast unique, her own, and action packed. The mythology behind the angels was sort of a mystery for awhile, all we got to know was what Pastor Warren had told the town. Pastor Warren is batshit crazy to say the least and I didn't like him from the start. Slowly we began to learn what the angels were and where they came from and I loved that. I loved not knowing and I loved being surprised with something I didn't expect at all. I loved how Adrienne included so many action scenes and didn't just focus on the love story aspect of Outcast. We get to see Riley and the Gang kick some major angel/villain ass and it was awesome. It kept me hooked and entertained throughout the entire book, not one time did I feel bored or ready to put Outcast down.<br />
<br />
The ending just about killed me. Have you scene that gif that says "I'm in a glass case of emotion."? That's me. I don't even know how to feel, it was so bittersweet, heartbreaking, and just WAH. I wanted it to happen the way it did because the other way would have just been too predictable and dumb but I didn't all at once because I didn't get everything I wanted and it sucked. It was so emotional, I still feel emotional about it and it's been two weeks since I finished the book!<br />
<br />
If you haven't already picked up on it, I absolutely <u style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">loved</u> Outcast and I can not wait for the next book. If you're looking for a sweet love story and action packed book, Outcast is perfect for you. As a lover of angel books, when they're done right, I can tell you that Adrienne Kress has blessed this world with an amazing story and I highly recommend everyone to read this. Go get yourself a copy, right now, and read it. No, I'm not kidding.<br />
<br />
<b>Thank you Netgalley and Diversion Books for giving me a copy to read and review. </b><br />

Ruby, where is your mother?<br />
Ruby knows that the game is up. For the past few months, she's been on her own in the yellow house, managing somehow, knowing that her mother will probably never return.<br />
That's how she comes to live with Cora, the sister she hasn't seen in ten years, and Cora's husband Jamie, whose down-to-earth demeanor makes it hard for Ruby to believe he founded the most popular networking Web site around. A luxurious house, fancy private school, a new wardrobe, the promise of college and a future; it's a dream come true. So why is Ruby such a reluctant Cinderella, wary and defensive? And why is Nate, the genial boy next door with some secrets of his own, unable to accept the help that Ruby is just learning to give?<br />
Best-selling author Sarah Dessen explores the heart of a gutsy, complex girl dealing with unforeseen circumstances and learning to trust again.</blockquote>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I've had several recommendations to read Sarah Dessen since I've joined the blogging world. All I ever hear is how amazing she is and how she's pretty much the Queen of Contemporary Romance. Several months back I picked up Lock & Key at the bookstore knowing I'd read it one day and I seriously want to punch myself for waiting so long. I assumed this book was about a broken girl finding some guy in her new life, falling in love, and then being all better. Please, don't think so shallow of this book because you get <b><i>so much more. </i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Out of all the Sarah Dessen books in the bookstore that day I decided on this one because I felt I related to Ruby the most from what I found out from the description. I was definitely right, we're alike in many ways. One of the most important things we have in common are our alcoholic mothers. Now granted my mom is a recovering alcoholic, she's still an alcoholic. It's a disease and it's always there. I still know what it feels like to go through what she was going through. It's like nothing you could possibly imagine and the only way you can actually understand it is if you've been through it. I connected with Ruby on a much deeper level because of this and I really loved that. Ruby was such an interesting and fun character to read about, she goes through a very long journey in this book and it's really only the beginning for her. We get to see her vulnerable and helpless but we also get to watch her become a strong young woman. She was such a nice person at heart and you could tell she wasn't truly being herself or showing who she was because she was afraid and felt as if she couldn't trust anyone. Her idea of family was so warped in the beginning and I hated that. Throughout the entire book we get to see her grow into this beautiful young woman, go through trial and error, and figure out the <i>true </i>meaning of love and family. Nate was a surprising addition to this story, Sarah did such a fantastic job with his story line and character development. I was invested in Nate's journey of becoming his own person and standing up for himself just as much as Ruby's. I loved how their love story wasn't the main focus, although we're lead to believe it is at first, it just plays a small role in bringing all of these lessons together and teaching us what family should be about but it also was still a beautiful aspect to the story. Cora and Jamie, Ruby's sister and her husband, were phenomenal characters and I adored them both to pieces. Cora was so much like Ruby and neither of them really saw it. They were both stubborn and they had some serious issues to work out in their relationship. To see them pull through and develop such a strong sisterly bond was beautiful, being close to my big sister I know how important they can be. Jamie was needed just as much as any character in the book, he brought the lightheartedness and love to the story when the other characters were struggling to find it. He was the perfect role model and authority figure Ruby needed in her life. I loved seeing him connect with her from the beginning even when she wasn't willing to.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sarah Dessen has shown me what family is truly about and how young love can become something so much more. I truly savored every single word of Ruby's story. I'm definitely going to be reading more of Sarah Dessen in the future because my good friends weren't lying when they said she could write a great book.I highly recommend this to lovers of contemporary novels that take you on an emotional journey, make you feel good, and leave you with hope. </div>

<b>Why am I anticipating this book? </b>Well for one I absolutely love Alessandra and will be reading any book she puts out. She is seriously the sweetest person ever and was so much fun to work with on the Picture Perfect blog tour! That brings us to my second reason. Her debut novel Picture Perfect was one of my all time favorite reads of this year! Alessandra's writing is absolutely stunning and her ability to suck you into the love story and keep you hooked is just as great.</div>

In Shark Bait, readers everywhere met and fell in love with the new girl, Camie Ramsey, and swooned over her sure to be future husband, Tristan Daniels. Now, in The Other Fish in the Sea, the long anticipated second installment of the Grab Your Pole series by Jenn Cooksey, Camie and Tristan are back, but so are their friends!<br />
So, find a breathing apparatus and shimmy into your scuba gear, because it's finally time to dive deeper into the lives of the GYP gang, but be warned, it's a big world out there and an even bigger ocean where danger might be lurking around the next corner and realistically, anything could happen.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Immediately after finishing Shark Bait, the first book in this series, I purchased TOFitS and started reading it. I was already so invested in the world Jenn created for us and somehow she managed to make me dive even deeper and love every single minute of it. We not only get to read things from Camie's point of view but now we also see the lives of these awesome teens from Kate, Melissa, and Jillian's point of view too. Can I just take a moment to applaud Jenn for this genius move because it was <b>ABSOLUTE GENIUS. </b>Getting to know Camie and the girls on a deeper level was one of the most enjoyable parts of this story. Jenn has this way of creating characters that are so relatable you develop this automatic love for them and need to know them better. By allowing us in all of their heads I learned secrets that I wouldn't have if it was just from Camie's POV. I suspected things throughout the story but I was always surprised and Jenn managed to keep me guessing until the end. I cried for these girls, weather it be happy tears or sad tears, and I laughed with them. If I ever could pick a group of best friends from a book series to have in real life, it would be these girls. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not only are the girls a bigger part of this story but so are the swoon worthy boys! We obviously get to see more of Tristan and his cute little ways with Camie that make you love him but we also get to see more of Dear Jeff and Lonely Pete. We also get to meet a mysterious bad boy and I can't say much more but OH MY GOSH. Jenn Cooksey, I didn't think you could make me swoon any harder than I already had been but he is a sexy piece of man!! I can not wait to see more of him in Shark Out of Water. These boys are all the type of boys I'd want to be friends with. They can bust each others balls and say stupid shit to each other and know that it's just a joke. In the end they all have each others backs. I also really love how close they become with the girls. So instead of them just being connected because they're dating girls that are bestfriends or boys that are bestfriends, they actually all become friends. Just like the first book, TOFitS is not only about young love but also friendship. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another reason I truly enjoyed TOFitS is the fact that it was so raw and realistic. Jenn doesn't sugar coat the story and she doesn't feed us a bunch of sappy unrealistic love crap. Not that I don't enjoy that, but it is refreshing to just have the truth shoved in your face every once in awhile. The gang isn't perfect throughout the story. They all go through troubling situations, make mistakes, and say really stupid shit to each other. Honestly I wanted to punch them sometimes but I also appreciated the fact that Jenn could make me feel something other than just happiness. That's what makes a good book a great book for me. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Jenn manages to take what could be an ordinary story and make it absolutely extraordinary by creating relatable and mature characters, a realistic bumpy road ahead for them, and a heart breaking ending to keep you hoping and wanting more. If you don't already consider this a must read let me tell you, it is one of my all time favorite books and it is a must read for any teen or YA lover out there in my book. </div>

It's been said that when we look back over our lives, we are able to recognize the pivotal moments that in some way, shape, or form have led us to where we are today.<br />
When Jacqueline Carter is fifteen, she crosses paths for the first time with Seth Thomas, a young man who unwittingly alters the direction of her life forever.<br />
Jaq plans to break-up with her boyfriend on her sixteenth birthday. Instead, she is date-raped, and left emotionally broken. She builds a wall around her heart and begins spiraling downward on a road filled with drinking, drugs and physical abuse.<br />
When Seth re-enters her life a few years later, the walls around her heart slowly come down and the two of them fall in love.<br />
Unfortunately sometimes, fate has other ideas, and we're forced down a different road from which we initially set out.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Back in May I was contacted by Lori and she offered to provide me with a copy of Different Roads to read and review. I checked out the blurb and happily jumped on the chance to read it. It sounded like an amazing story and I felt it had true potential. After reading it I was sadly disappointed. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We start off meeting Jaq at age fifteen and experience with her one of the most traumatic things that can happen to anyone, being raped. Jaq goes to this party with her boyfriend and best friend, during this party she meets Seth briefly, and then later that night sadly suffers being raped by her boyfriend. The book then jumps forward a few years and we see how this has affected Jaq, causing her to spiral into this self destructive negative pattern. She's drinking, doing every drug you can think of, and sleeping with every Tom Dick and Harry she sees. All of this is explained within one chapter and then we're told at the age of eighteen she finally realized she wasn't helping herself and needed to get it together. I really would have liked to see her more and experience the 'after' with her rather than just be told how she acted. I think I could have emotionally connected with her more than I did. After this chapter it's awhile later, I'm not exactly sure how old she is at this point but I think it's eighteen, and thankfully Jaq has gotten her act together and straightened her life up. She is now working at a garage and has become one of the boys in the little family within her work place and is soon moving in with her best friend Shelley. Shortly after this we find her going to another party and experiencing yet another really awful tragic event. At this point I felt she should just stop going to parties because they obviously were no good for her. Throughout this night she sees Damon Blackwell, a guy she met earlier on, and THE Seth from the night of her rape. She ends up going home with Seth and that's when all shit really hits the fan again. I'm not going to ruin the story for others but because of what happens Jaq slips into a sort of depression and Seth is there for her through it all, even if it is from a distance at times. Over time she moves on from the tragic event she was mourning and ends up dating Seth. This is when we experience insta love and it definitely was not my cup of tea. They've met all of two times and yes Seth was sort of there for her during a hard time but I don't feel like enough happened between them for them to be madly in love. There wasn't enough relationship building for me. For whatever reason later on in the book Seth and Jaq break up and she ends up going out with Damon Blackwell, who is a disgusting piece of shit to say the least. Lori definitely portrayed his abusive and aggressive character well but I also feel like this relationship along with Seth and Jaq's relationship was just skipped through. We only got to see little snippets and there wasn't really any build up. One second Damon and Jaq were having awesome sex and she was doing okay the next he's beating the shit out of her apparently? It came out of nowhere and wasn't explained very well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How Lori wraps this story up was definitely not something I expected and it was really sad. The epilogue was okay for me, I could feel that Seth loved Jaq through it but then that brings me back to the insta love problem and also, why didn't he try to fix their relationship earlier on if he loved her so much? I wanted to like this book and I felt like it had great potential because Lori managed to write very raw when it came to the difficult subjects but it just felt very rushed and lacking with relationship building and explanation/detail. This might be the perfect tragic story for someone else but it just wasn't for me. </div>

Previously homeschooled Camie Ramsey is being shoved into the shark-infested waters of public high school, where even helium filled, penguin bespeckled arm floaties likely won’t help keep her inexperienced, fifteen-year old head above water in that rip current of hormones and emotions. Camie’s worldly wisdom might be severely lacking (i.e., the closest she’s come to being kissed was sitting too close to the TV whilst Jake Ryan leaned in to give Samantha that fateful 16th birthday kiss), but she does understand her only hope for survival is if she’s thrown some kind of “social” life preserver before she sinks like a freaking rock. However, what will her fate be when she endeavors to flag down the only lifeguard on duty, the enormously popular and ridiculously beautiful Tristan Daniels? The most sought after and virtually most unattainable guy in school who not only makes Camie’s heart flatline on a recurring basis, he’s also the one guy who seemingly doesn’t know she exists. Feeling like an inept piece of chum that could ultimately be swallowed by Jaws, can Camie get Tristan to rescue her from floundering in the treacherous deep, or is she destined to be Shark Bait?</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Going into this book I expected something <i>completely different </i>from what I got but I absolutely <i style="font-weight: bold;">loved </i>what I did. I figured Camie was going to be shy and nervous going to public school because she's been home schooled her entire life but she was brave and ends up thriving in the big scary world of public education. I'm going back to public school next year and I'm a bit nervous so she is now my inspiration. Jenn Cooksey not only gives us a cute young love story to follow but Shark Bait also teaches us about friendship and growing up to become your own person.<br />
<br />
Camie, the main character, was so awesome. I loved her from the moment the story began. She didn't have a particularly easy life and a lot of change was happening but she took it with stride and handled it really well if you ask me. She's easy to relate to from a teen girls POV and I couldn't help but love her. My all time favorite character though was Jillian, Camie's little sister. YOU GUYS. I can't even express the badassness of this girl. She's not even in high school yet but she's some brainiac top secret spy who can kick your ass and black mail you within five minutes of knowing you. Did I mention she is also freaking hilarious? I love my older sister to pieces but what I wouldn't give to also have a little sister like Jillian. I loved the relationship between Camie and Jillian. The age difference between them and the gap in their relationship is shown in the beginning of Shark Bait but we slowly see Camie open up to Jillian and trust her to have her back and I loved that. Sisterly love is a very powerful thing and seeing such a strong future relationship develop in their lives was awesome. I'm sure you're thinking "Kylee, tell us about the sexy love interest already." and I'm getting there, patience is needed. Another amazing friendship was formed in Shark Bait, Camie and Kate become best friends and they were literally the coolest and most entertaining best friends to read about. I loved Kate and I loved seeing Camie form a bond with someone so fast. So this mystery guys name is Tristan Daniels and oh my gosh he is swoooon worthy my ladies! I like how Jenn didn't insert an insta love, it made this story all the better. Seeing Camie crush on Tristan was really fun, what was even more entertaining though? Watching Kate and Camie devise a plan to get Tristan's attention and make him Camie's boyfriend and then later have that relationship grow. It's such a teenage girl thing to do and it was one of the more exciting parts of this story for me. Seeing them come up with silly little ways to get his attention and get them together was sort of like a chess game. Dear Jeff, Tristan's bestfriend and Kate's on again off again boyfriend, also becomes a part of this game and it really was just such a fun aspect to wait and see how it played out and what moves were going to be made next.<br />
<br />
Seeing a group of people come together and grow so close was a truly enjoyable experience. Being able to tease your friends and still have them know you'll have their back no matter what is what being a teenager is all about. Having those relationships are really important and I loved seeing so many of them develop in this story. The young careless fun love story between Camie and Tristan was one of the most enjoyable YA stories I've had the pleasure of reading. Jenn Cooksey explores the fears of a teenage girl and shows us how Camie feels every emotion possible including the awful ones but she still makes it through. The awesome plot line and hilarious dialogue is definitely reason enough for why you don't want to miss this one.<br />

<i>"While I agree this might not be your best look, I bet you taste pretty good." ~ Tristan referring to Camie being drenched in punch. </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>"Mike, dude.. why don't you bite me?" Tristan flippantly answered. It's a good thing he didn't extend the invitation to me; I probably would've. ~ Camie</i><br />

There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.<br />
Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache.<br />
<br />
Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.<br />
In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from hispoint of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you're thinking this is some pointless retelling of the same story you read and I'm sure loved about Will and Lake, you are wrong. If you're thinking you need to read this because it's awesome, just like <b>everything</b> else Colleen Hoover writes, then you are right. If you think it's impossible to fall even <i>more in love </i>with Will Cooper you are wrong, don't worry though so was I with this one and I'm glad. About a year ago I was randomly scrolling through my kindle recommends section and I saw the original cover of Slammed. It sounded interesting and it was a good deal so I figured what the heck. I bought Slammed on a whim and I stayed up until 5 in the morning finishing that book because it was THAT good. The same exact thing happened with Point of Retreat the next night. I admit when I first heard Colleen was writing Slammed in Will's POV I was skeptical but I knew I still wanted to read it, especially after she assured us there was going to be extra content we hadn't read. This Girl was so much more than I expected it to be and I expected a lot.<br />
<br />
Seeing Will and Lake's story come to life in Will's mind in his own poetic words was breathtaking and so, so beautiful. I notice with a lot of Mature Young Adult books most of the male characters are bad boys. Now don't get me wrong because I <i>love </i>me some bad boys in my books but Will Cooper is such a sweet and refreshing male character. You can feel his love for Lake, Caulder, and Kel and it just fills you with this happiness because you know it's so genuine and true. I must admit I found myself wishing at times that we got to see more of Lake and Will together in the present. We get snippets of the present which is their honeymoon and I loved that. I loved seeing them married and finally together getting the happy ever after they deserved. I loved seeing Lake so happy and content with her life because if you've read Slammed and Point of Retreat we all know what hell she has been through along with Will. We didn't only get new information and content from the present though, Lake wasn't always with Will during Slammed and PoR so seeing things from Will's POV let us see what happened when she wasn't around and find out some very juicy details that even Lake doesn't know about until This Girl. I really enjoyed this and found it added more appeal to the story and kept me reading. Julia still managed to break my heart with a retelling of events from Slammed and POR but also managed to break my heart and be one of the most inspiring mother's I've ever read about after her death. I don't know how this woman did it but she thought of everything, when I say everything I mean <i>everything. </i>I don't understand how she was so prepared for death but she was still a wonderful mother to both Lake and Kel along with Will and Caulder after she was gone and it broke my heart and made me cry like a baby. I loved having Kel, Caulder, Kiersten, Gavin, and Eddie add the humor I needed to get through some of the more heart breaking parts of this story. They managed to keep me in high spirits through the bad parts and I only shed a few tears, until the very end of course, where I sobbed happy tears.<br />
<br />
Colleen is a genius when it comes to writing love stories. I wasn't sure how she was going to end Will and Lake's story but somehow she managed to make it into a sort of beginning and <i>not </i>piss me off. I know that Will and Lake have a wonderful future ahead of them and I'm going to miss all of these characters more than I can express. The Slammed Series is always going to be one of my all time favorite series and I will always be a huge fan of Colleen as a person and as an author, she's simply butterflying awesome in every way possible.<br />

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.<br />
Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.<br />
Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.<br />
Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.<br />
The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.</blockquote>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm sure you've heard about The Sea of Tranquility, awhile back it was all that was talked about in the blogger world. Every blogger I loved was reading and absolutely adoring this book and I'm just now jumping on the band wagon but better late than never right? In honor of the release of the paperback on June 4th I want to add another loving review to the collection of many towards this book because it was wonderful and it's deserving. <br />
<br />
Nastya is this mysterious girl, who we know barely anything about, which is always fun. Add to that the fact that she doesn't talk, well except in the shower to herself. I wasn't sure how I felt about her in the beginning but I know I felt something. Her background remained a mystery until the very last parts of the book but I liked that. I liked getting to know her before everyone found out about what happened, it's like I connected with her in a way that I usually couldn't because we didn't have much in common. I ended up loving her and feeling for her and what she was going through, although who wouldn't? She was incredibly screwed up but with reason and I just wanted her to find her way back to living life and being happy. When we're introduced to Josh I honestly thought he was some huge prick but really I was being judgmental and weird. Go figure. I fell in love with him after getting to know him more. Finding out what he'd been through and why he could get away with anything and everything in school made me so sad. On top of Nastya's past it was just one ball of depression thrown my way. Feeling alone is something I think we've all felt at one point in time but he shows us the meaning of being alone and oh how I wish he wasn't. Really both of their situations were complete shit and I wanted nothing more than to just help them be happy because they deserved it. The supporting characters in this book were really interesting and a great mix of personalities. I loved Drew the most, he sort of reminds me of Riley from the Stalk Me Series by Jillian Dodd. He's the best friend of Josh but over time he becomes like a protective big brother for Nastya and I loved it. He was hilarious and at first you think he's just the man ho best friend but we later find out that he's more than that and I liked how Katja gave him some depth and allowed him to lighten the mood of such a serious book.<br />
<br />
I love how their story wasn't just a love story. It was about family, redemption, and finding yourself and hopefully the path to happiness too. Katja managed to take an overused plot line for contemporary books and make it her own, giving it depth and such a realistic feeling that I couldn't help but love it. I think every contemporary lover should give this book a chance because it's sure to not disappoint.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Favorite Quotes</u></b><br />
<b><u><br /></u></b>
<i>"With any other girl I could probably pull out the classic guy fail-safe of walking over and wrapping my arms around her and letting her put her head on my shoulder. It's cheap, but it works. Drew swears by it. But I'm afraid that in this particular instance it would result in one of two things: a string of innovative new expletive or her knee in my balls. My money's on the knee." ~ Josh</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>"Of course if I were to take the books at their word, I'd also have to believe that all teenage boys go around calling girls baby, because apparently that's the express train to romance. He was an asshole a minute ago, but then he drops the baby on you and it's all over. Uncontrollable swooning and relinquishment of all self-respect activated. Oooh, he called me baby. My panties are wet and I luuuuuv him. Do real boys actually calls girl baby? I don't have enough experience to know. I do know that if a guy ever called me baby, I'd probably laugh in his face. Or choke him." ~ Nastya</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>"They're like zombie people. Empty. Haunted and endlessly waiting for something. I know what it looks like. These people were normal once. I think about how easily this could be the Leightons if it had been Sarah. How every normal family is one tragedy away from complete implosion." ~ Nastya</i><br />

Fashion design major Cat Mitchell has a closet full of gorgeous clothes - and not a single thing fits. After two years of runway modeling for easy cash, an accident shattered her lower leg bone and her self-esteem in just one swift fall. Ten months of no exercise, prescription steroids, comfort eating and yoga pants meant returning to campus as a size twelve instead of her former size two.<br /> <br />When her gorgeous long-time friend with benefits sees her for the first time after her accident and snubs her in front of all her friends, Cat’s self-image hits rock bottom. Her sorority sisters all insist that she looks gorgeous, but all Cat sees is the roll of her stomach when she sits down, or the dimpling at the back of her thighs that wasn't there last year. Cat’s therapist prescribes something radical to stop the downward spiral - nude modeling for a nearby college's human form drawing classes.<br /> <br />When Cat faces her fears and bares it all for the class, she realizes that she's posing naked in front the most gorgeous, buffest guy she's ever seen in her life. Even when he discourages her from entering the Real Woman Project, a design competition for plus-sized apparel, she reasons that he's just trying to prevent old body image wounds from splitting wide open again.<br />But when Cat goes home with Nate for Thanksgiving, she discovers something shocking from his recent past that proves that he hasn’t always been so encouraging of women of all shapes and sizes. Cat has no idea what to think, but she does know one thing - this might destroy their relationship before it's even had a chance to get off the ground.<br /> <br />Before Cat can figure out whether the real Nate is the sensitive, adoring guy she fell in love with, or an undercover asshole, she'll have to finally feel comfortable in her own skin - even if it means leaving him forever.</blockquote>

In a Hail Mary move, she throws a basic Business 101 class into her semester schedule, banking on a perfect score to boost her GPA.<br />That is, until she’s paired for a final project with Hawk, the bartending, motorbike-riding, gorgeously bedheaded loser who falls asleep in class and communicates in one-word sentences.<br />Hawk does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, which sets Joey on edge – in every possible way. As they get to know each other, her urge to scream at him is curbed only by her fantasies of tearing his clothes off. Soon those fantasies become reality, and Joey realizes Hawk makes her feel more fully herself than any of the rich boys her mother and sorority sisters approve of.<br />But the promise to her father hangs over her head, and the harder Joey tries to succeed in her chosen career, the faster everything falls into a hopeless tailspin of bad grades, broken promises and guilt. It doesn't help to have Hawk sitting like a devil on her shoulder, insisting she should be free to live however she wants to live - like he does.<br />The only thing Joey knows is that her neatly organized life is crushing her - and Hawk's bad attitude might be the only thing that can save her.</blockquote>

<blockquote>
<br />
Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.<br />
<br />
Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.<br />
The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.<br />
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.<br />
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.</blockquote>

Today I have the honor of showing you all the book trailer for a book I'm very excited about, Branded. I did a <a href="http://babblingofabookaholic.blogspot.com/2013/04/branded-by-abi-ketner-and-missy.html">cover reveal for it awhile back and a chapter 1 reveal</a> if you'd like to read it. It sounds so amazing, the authors just happened to stumble upon me on twitter and I'm so glad they've included me in all of the festivities of getting their book out into the world. I hope you all enjoy. </div>
